QUALITY CONTROL AT ENTRY POINTS
The inspection service of the Burundian Bureau of Standardization and Quality Control "BBN" has deployed units at points of entry. So far one post at Bujumbura Port and another at the Kobero border are controlled by BBN officials and agents. For the purposes of protecting the interests of importers, consumers, industries and the environment, the Government of Burundi has decided to implement a Program of Verification of the Conformity of goods to the order and standards before boarding to the Republic of Burundi (PVoC).
After signing the contract with the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), the government entrusted this mission to SGS and BBN, the depositary of standards in Burundi is responsible for the implementation and administration of the program. This contract started on March 15, 2014. Thus BBN inspectors are responsible for verifying the documents that accompany the goods whose Certificate of Conformity (COC) for the products covered by the SGS and the quality mark for the products of which the origin is a country in the sub-region (CEA). This activity is complemented by a physical inspection of the products.
