Burundian Bureau of Standardization and Quality Control "BBN" was created in 1992 to promote the activities of standardization, metrology Quality Assurance and Testing in Burundi, to support the economic development, quality inspections of the goods and the Environmental Protection.
BBN is a government agency responsible for providing standardization services through the development, adoption and adaptation of national standards in quality assurance, certification, inspection, metrology conformity assessment and testing. A year after its creation, the country entered a socio-political crisis that negatively affected its expansion. With the return of peace, renewed attention has come from the government and development partners to enable the standardization office to meet the requirements of regional and international agreements.
In the spirit of cooperation and mutual interest to improve and strengthen technical cooperation in the areas of standardization and conformity assessment, NBB has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kenya Bureau of Normalization (KEBS).
